Mr. Julius Irving Janet, 91, of Blytheville, Arkansas passed away Friday, June 17, 2022 at Claremore Veterans Center in Claremore, Oklahoma.
He was born in Avoyelles Parish, Mansura Louisiana on August 12,1930 to Lee Sylvan and Julia Scallon Janet, both descendants of French migrants. From Mansura LA the family moved to Evangeline Louisiana, before relocating to Blytheville.
Julius enlisted in the US Navy in June 1950, served in Korean War, United Nations, Navy Occupation, China and the National Defense. The honors he earned were Korean Service (4 Stars), United Nations, Navy Occupation, China Service, National Defense and the Good Conduct medal. He served on the USS O'Brien 725 as a Chief Marine Engineer. He was Honorably discharged in 1954.
Upon returning from the Navy; Julius went to school in Russellville, Arkansas at Arkansas Tech, studying engineering. He returned to Blytheville and worked at the LNG plant.
Later, on March 2, 1957, Julius married the love of his life; Dorothy May Perry and they lived in Blytheville, Arkansas the majority of their marriage of 59 years.
Julius was of the Baptist Faith and attended Ridgecrest Baptist Church until his health declined.. He was a great man who loved to joke around with everyone. He had quiite a few friends for he was very likeable. He was a very generous man to anyone who needed help; he was always ready to assist them. For his love and kind heart, he will be missed.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his loving wife; Dorothy May Perry Janet.
He leaves behind his two sons: Terry Lynn and wife Janice Janet of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma and Jerry Wayne and wife Jonette Janet of Blytheville, Arkansas; grandchildren: Joshua and Jacob Janet of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, Julie Anna and Russell Thorne of Silverdale, WA, along with many friends and family in Louisiana.
