Barbara Emmons Obituary

Barbara Ann “Cissie Swift” Emmons, 82, of Blytheville passed away Saturday, June 6th. She was born on June 8, 1937 in Blytheville to James Leo Swift and Mary “Rilla” Sides Swift.

Barbara had a full life and was loved by many. Her family was her life. The most joy she found was in spending time with her family. Her grandchildren and great grandchildren were the apple of her eye. Barbara also had many friends. She had a great personality and made friends everywhere she went. She loved to laugh, tell stories, sing songs, and go to yard sales. She also enjoyed travelling and going on family vacations. She loved her Cokes and enjoyed coke floats!

Barbara was a homemaker. She also owned and operated The Mason Jar restaurant and SkateWorld at one time. She babysat many children in the community and was known as Nan/Nanny to many. Late in life Barbara enjoyed attending Arkansas Northeastern college. She was loved by her classmates and was an excellent student.

She was a life long member of the American Legion and the VFW. She was also a member of Yarbro Baptist Church. She was dearly loved and will be missed greatly.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Wayne Elmo Emmons, Sr.; three brothers: Tommy Guy Swift, James “Jim” Swift, and Billy Wayne Swift; three sisters: Peggy MaryLee Burgette, June Nash, and Ida “Tenni” Lucy.

She is survived by her son, Wayne Jr. and Jessica Emmons, of Harrison AR;

Six daughters: Pam Sweat of Harrison AR, Kathy Weston, of Memphis TN, Debi and Dale Devers, of Clear Lake AR, Lisa Carney, of Collierville TN, Lynda Emmons and Abelardo Tenorio, of Armorel AR, and Tracye and David Garner, of Armorel AR;

Grandchildren: Marilla Sweat,of Sacremento CA, Chuck Howell, of Memphis TN, Glen Weston, of Memphis TN, Matthew Weston, of Memphis TN, Dixie and Jered Gray, of Clear Lake AR, Amanda and Travis Miller, of Clear Lake AR, Isabela Tenorio, of Armorel AR, David Alan Garner III, of Armorel AR, Rylee and Caleb Godsey, of Yarbro AR, Wayne Elmo Emmons III, of Harrison AR, Elec “EJ” Emmons, of Harrison AR; Leo Emmons, of Harrison AR, and Cissie Emmons (arriving in October) of Harrison AR;

A host of great-grandchildren;

One brother, Terry “Sonny” and Sharon Swift, of Ravenden AR;

And a host of nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers the family asks donations be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital in honor of her grandson David Alan Garner.

Funeral services will be Monday, June 8th , but due to Covid-19 services will be private. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery.
