Barbara Gail Marr, 59, of Blytheville passed away peacefully Friday night at St. Bernards Hospital in Jonesboro while being comforted by her loving sister, Amy Marr. Barbara was born the second of three sisters on August 22, 1958 to parents Francis and Pauline Marr.
Barbara lived her complete life in the city of Blytheville always calling this place home. She graduated from Blytheville High School in the class of 1976 and went on to earn two Associate Degrees from Arkansas Northeastern College (formerly known as Mississippi County Community College) and from Cotton Bowl Tech. She contributed to the city by becoming a member of the Master Gardener Association and enjoyed helping keep the flower beds on Main street filled with beautiful flowers. She was a Master Gardener and was proud of her gardens and the plants that would blossom in them year after year.
Barbara also enjoyed the birds that would stop by her home to enjoy a bath and a bite to eat as she would always keep the water fresh in her bird bath and new seed spread in the yard for her flighted friends. Her compassion was also shown to her family, especially her mother, as for years she was her primary caregiver and best friend.
Barbara grew up in the era of Rock N Roll and instantly became a fan of the king himself, Elvis Presley. She and her friends loved listening to his music and admired the way he sang and danced around the stage in his blue suede shoes and silk scarfs. She also had a keen eye for Nutcrackers and Hallmark ornaments and could transform any room or tree into a special place. She was able to touch the lives of many individuals by being a loyal daughter, sister, aunt, and friend with a heart the size of the Mississippi.
As we celebrate the Christmas season, Barbara's favorite time of year, we reflect on her life and all the memories we will cherish for years to come. Just like the colorful tulips that would bloom in her yard every spring. Barbara will always have a bright spot in the heart of many people.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Francis and Pauline Marr.
She is survived by her sisters, Amy Marr of Jonesboro and Dr. Rita Marr, brother-in-law Ed McCrory and nephew Clay McCrory of Houston, Texas.
