Bertha Mae Johnson Brackin, 96, of Cooter, MO was born in Leighton, Alabama, the daughter of William Alfred Johnson and Margaret Golda Nesmith. She was married to Herbert Lee Brackin until his death this past April. Their 80th anniversary would have been Tuesday.
Mrs. Brackin was a member of Tyler Baptist Church, near Cooter. Her hobbies included sewing and gardening (she loved flowers). Her special joy was cooking for her family and watching them eat. Her children, grandchildren and husband were her purpose in life. She was the ultimate "Caregiver."
In addition to her husband and parents, she was also preceded in death by two sons: Lloyd Brackin, and Curtis Brackin; and one daughter, Mavis Brackin Davis.
She is survived by one son, Pete Brackin and Sharion of Holland; thirteen grandchildren: Peggy, Allen, Lee, Carolyn, Jeff, Terry, Steve, Denise, Joe, Mark, Susan, Paula, and Tabetha; numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren, and a host of friends.
Services were held at Carney Funeral Home on Monday, November 15 at 2 PM, with Dr. Tommy J. Carney officiating. Interment was at Number 8 Cemetery in Cooter, MO.
