Betty (Lovelace) McGee, 90, of Blytheville passed away peacefully on December 21, 2022, surrounded by her family. Betty was born on August 17, 1932, to Archie and Onie (Sommers) Lovelace in Blytheville, Arkansas. She was a lifelong resident of Blytheville. On December 16, 1950, she married Virgil McGee.
Betty and her husband were business owners—they owned and operated McGee Appliances, for over 30 years. In addition to being a business owner, Betty was also a member of the Tenth Street Baptist Church.
She enjoyed fishing, camping, baking, crocheting, and working crossword puzzles in ink. She loved to read, in fact she read more than one book a day. She also enjoyed working jigsaw puzzles and spending time with her family, especially her weekday coffee klatch with her nieces. Along with loving her family, Betty loved her pets and often took in homeless pets to give them a forever home.
Betty was preceded in death by her husband, Virgil McGee; her parents, Archie, and Onie (Sommers) Lovelace; her brother, Roy Lovelace; and her six sisters: Helen Perkins, Louise Moore, May Keefe, Pearl Lewis, Yvonne Zakrzewski, and Mary Lou Knipple.
She is survived by her two sons: Dan (Linda) McGee, and Darrell (Sandy) McGee; one grandson, Dan (Jessica) McGee, Jr.; one granddaughter, Maggie(Nick)Kerns; four great-grandchildren, Elyse McGee, Jace McGee, Emery McGee, and E.J. Kerns; one sister, Shirley White; one brother, Wayne Lovelace, and many family and friends that will miss her dearly.
Cremation has taken place and burial will be later for family members.
The family asks that remembrance be given to Blytheville Humane Society.
