Carol Yvonne “Von” Perkins, 84, passed away at SMC Regional Medical Center on August 24, 2020. He was born in Sardis TN to L. M. and Pearl Brown Perkins on October 9, 1935. He served in The United States Army. He was a Christian and was a member of Mary’s Chaoel Baptist Church at Huffman for over 20 years. Some people knew him as “Perk.”
Mr. Perkins retired from Harts Farm as Assistant Manager. He also worked for the Mississippi County Road Dept for 14 years. He loved to ride the roads and go to the fields. He enjoyed visiting family. Years ago he often incorporated visiting family in their vacations. Family was very important to him. He coordinated the Perkins family reunions for years. He enjoyed fish fry’s and going to the truck stop for coffee and visiting in the mornings. He was always faithful in attending funeral visitations for anyone in the community.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two wives: Martha Brooks and Virginia Perkins.
He is survived by his wife, Judith Byrd, of the home;
One son and daughter-in-law, Keith and Debbie Perkins, of Phoenix AZ;
Many step-children, step-grandchildren, and step-great-grandchildren that he didn’t consider “step.” Nieces and nephews, and friends that will miss him dearly.
He was caregiver for Ruth Taylor, his mother-in-law, for a long time. He loved all of the family and loved grandmother Taylor.
The family would like to thank the staff at Gosnell Therapy and Living and SMC Regional Medical Center for the care of their loved one.
Funeral services will be Friday, August 28, 10:30 a.m. in Carney Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Alvin L. McGill officiating. Visitation will be Thursday, August 27, 5:00-7:00 p.m. Burial will be in Elmwood cemetery.
