Durrell Lynn Warren, 59, of Dyersburg, Tennessee died suddenly at his home last Saturday, April 2, 2016. He was born in Lambert, Mississippi on November 10, 1956 to Grady and Aleen Ferguson Warren.
After graduating from high school, he attended junior college where he met his future wife, Carol Hathcock. They celebrated their 36th anniversary in January of this year. He then graduated from Mississippi State University,
Mr. Warren worked for Nucor for more than 26 years and retired two years ago as a NYS1 Finishing Supervisor. He often remarked that the crews he worked with were like second families.
He had many hobbies, but some of his favorites were: landscaping, sports, and running. The family say that he was as awesome landscaper. He knew every tree, flower and plant and taught his children about them when they went on road trips. He had a "green thumb" and could grow anything. He worked in horticulture for five years when they lived in New Orleans, LA.
He was an avid sports fan and knew all the statistics about the ball players. He loved football, college basketball and baseball. He was a good basketball player ( for a "Southpaw"). He also coached his children's baseball teams when they were younger.
Mr. Warren was a great runner. He won many awards and trophies in marathons. He always finished in the top 5 in his races.
He enjoyed cooking. Grilling pork chops and steaks were among his many accomplishments. He was good in Math; he could fix anything; he would do anything for anybody.
Strong, caring, special, good sense of humor, old time southern values, and a good daddy were some of the words used to describe Durrell Warren. He was loved by many.
