Eric Lee Richardson, 53, of Poplar Bluff MO, passed away on October 10, 2025, at Vanderbilt Medical Center in Nashville TN. He was born on July 22, 1972, in Cherry Point NC to Terry Glenn Richardson and Debra Jean Sipes Richardson. He worked as a First Mate on a towboat for over 28 years.
Eric enjoyed spending time with his friends and family, watching sunrises and sunsets while on the river, and bragging about his two sons. His hobbies included drawing, riding horses, watching his favorite TV shows and reading Proverbs.
He worked on the towboat for most of his life. Being on the river and traveling was his passion. He was well-known for his loving heart, compassion, humor, stubbornness, and strong will - he raised his two boys to be the same. Andrew is a U. S. Navy sailor and Dakota is a sheriff deputy.
Eric is survived by his father, Terry Richardson; his sister, Dawn (Bradley) Grisham Hodges; two sons, Andrew (Kera) Richardson and Dakota (Tonya) Richardson; twelve grandchildren: Stephanie, Natalie, Ashley, Izzy, Tenley, Caleb, Annabelle, Elijah, Evelyn, Kolby, Tobias, and Enan; and many great-grandchildren.
