Mrs. Frances Gail Shannon, 79, of Blytheville, passed away on Friday, May 12th, at the Methodist Hospital in Memphis TN. She was born in Wilson AR on December 7, 1943, to Ernest “Bo” McCanless and Gladys (Cissell) McCanless. Gail lived in the Blytheville area all her life. She was a homemaker and loved taking care of her family.
Mrs. Shannon enjoyed playing the Solitaire card game, crocheting blankets, and needlepoint. She also enjoyed working in her yard. It was important to her that her yard looked nice. She liked to cook, and her grandson said she made awesome chocolate gravy!
She loved her family. She loved spending time with her husband, William “Billy” Shannon, her kids, grandkids, and her dogs. When she wasn’t spending time with her family, Mrs. Shannon, baptized on May 26, 2012, dedicated her time to going to the Kingdom Hall and going out in service.
She is preceded in death by her parents; Ernest and Gladys (Cissell) McCanless and one brother, Tommy McCanless.
She is survived by her husband of 62 years, William “Billy” Shannon; three children: Teresa Shannon, Ty Shannon, and Tonya Young; two grandchildren: Shannon (Michelle) Harris and Skylor Young; two great-grandchildren: Luna Boyer and Freya Young; one brother, Gary (Suzette) McCanless; three sisters, Judy Connell, Faye Bullington, and Debbie (David) Smith; four dogs: Crystal, Chi-Chi, Jazabel, and Pepper; and a host of other relatives and friends that will miss her dearly.
Services will be held at Carney Funeral Home in Blytheville, Arkansas at 2 pm on Wednesday, May 17, 2023, officiated by Calvin Johnson and burial will be in Dogwood Cemetery. Condolences may be offered at carneyfuneralhome.com.
