Herbert Gale Downing

Herbert Gale Downing, 71, of West Memphis passed away Monday afternoon at Broadway HealthCare Nursing Facility in West Memphis. He was born June 9, 1942 to his parents Herbert Ray and Dorothy Mae Aycock Downing.

He was a resident of the nursing facility for many years. In earlier years he farmed his own land and he loved it! Later on he was a truck driver and owned his own trucking company, as well as farming.

He is preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Betty Grimmett and Brenda Edwards; and one brother, Jimmy Downing.

He is survived by one daughter, Amy Sheffer of Newport AR;one grandson, Dallion Sheffer of Judsonia AR, one granddaughter, Alexis Sheffer of Judsonia AR; one brother, Mike Downing, of West Memphis AR; and one sister, Kaye Rozelle, of Muskogee OK.

Due to inclement weather no services are planned and burial will be at a later date.
