James Earl Shaw, 62, of Blytheville passed away on Thursday, November 23, 2017 in Walnut Ridge Nursing Home. He was born in Walnut Ridge, AR on May 8, 1955 to Aaron Wesley Shaw and Bernice Ivy Smith Shaw.
After high school, Jim served in the U. S. Army in the 101st Airborne as a paratrooper. He spent most of his adult life as a trucker and loved it! He worked for Rickett's from Gerden AR and had the special skill set to drive long beams (95'-110') to Blytheville for delivery at Nucor. He really enjoyed trucking, including the truck stop coffee!
Jim loved watching women's softball and volleyball games on TV. He also liked to BBQ a lot and visit with his friends. His family and friends said he at times could be hardheaded, but they also said he was the most thoughtful and giving person you could meet. The Byrum family said, "There is no one more honest than him. He was a great friend to Denny Byrum for 16 years. He was Denny's caregiver the last two years of his life and was an awesome caregiver."
He loved living the simple life. Taking care of himself and his cats! He loved cats.
He was preceded in death by his parents; eight brothers: Bobby, Stanley, Larry, Johnny, Roger, Lowell Dean, Doyle Gean, and Carlos Shaw; three sisters: Mary Latain Shaw, Sue Bond, and Judy Jarrett.
He is survived by one son: Harry Purdue Shaw, Jr of Tennessee; one daughter, Crystal Lynn Shaw of Russellville, Kentucky; two brothers: Herman Shaw (and Anna Lou) of Walnut Ridge, Arkansas and Ronnie Shaw of Pacos, Texas; two sisters: Bonnie Sheppard and Jana McHorse both of Pecos, Texas; a special niece, Janet Shaw Smith (and Glenn) of Walnut Ridge Arkansas; a special nephew, Blake Shaw of Walnut Ridge, Arkansas; special friends that he counted as family, Thor and Denise Capehart, of Blytheville Arkansas; and other friends and family that will miss him.
The funeral services will be Monday, November 27th, at 11:00 a.m. at Carney Funeral Home with Glenn Smith and Blake Shaw officiating. Visitation will be at 10:00 a.m. until service begins.
Burial will be in Carney Cemetery.
