Jesse Alan Carney, 59, of Mountain Home, passed away peacefully at his home on Wednesday, December 8, 2021. He was born in Blytheville Arkansas on July 19, 1962 to Tommy and Mabelee Lunsford Carney. He attended public schools in AR, TX, CA, and MO. He graduated from Glendale High School in Springfield Missouri.
After high school, he moved to Sherman Texas to attend Grayson County College. While in Sherman he eventually met and married the love of his life, Beverly Wester. He was employed at Sherman Wire for 18 years before moving back to Arkansas. In 2005, he started working for the U.S. Postal Service as a mail carrier. He loved that job! Even after he became very sick, he would make visits to the Post Office to visit his co-workers.
Alan was a big sports enthusiast. As a youth, he played football and basketball, and he was good at them. He had an ongoing competition with his best friend, Buddy Martin, about which of them would score the most points in a game. As an adult, he was a huge “Hogs” fan. He never missed a game if he could help it. He also rooted for the Dallas Cowboys.
Alan was an avid fisherman. He really enjoyed catching crappie with his brother, Joe, and his son, Justin. What brought him the most pleasure was his family. He loved his grandchildren and always looked forward to their visits.
He was preceded in death by his father, Dr. Tommy Carney; and his brother, Randy Carney.
He is survived by his wife, Beverly Carney, of the home; his mother, Dr. Mabelee L. Carney, of Mountain Home/Blytheville; two sons: Jason (Lacrisha) Carney, of Oklahoma and Justin (Megan) Carney, of Mountain Home; one daughter, Ashley (Chase) Ricardo; six grandchildren: Aubrey, Charley, Mason, Jason, Kash, and Connor; three brothers: Joe (Vickie) Carney, of Thayer MO, Rick (Teresa) Carney, of Sadler TX, and Allen Merritt, of Las Vegas NV; one sister, Susan (Ronnie) Myers, of Blytheville/Mountain Home; one sister-in-law, Lana Carney, of Osceola AR; one aunt, Margaret (Jonathan) Abbott, of Blytheville/Mountain Home; his mother-in-law, Mildred Wester, of Mountain Home; several nieces and nephews; and a host of friends.
