Jimmie Sears Wages, 74, of Senatobia MS, passed away at his daughter's house in Jacksonville AR on Tuesday afternoon. He was born August 6, 1939 in Helena-West Helena to his parents John Wesley and Rena Bell Powers Wages.
Mr. Wages served approximately 23 years in the United States Air Force retiring with the rank of Chief Master Sergeant. He also had a career of over 20 years in Hospital Administration.
He loved his family! He loved reading his Bible and he was very active in his church at Highland Baptist Church in Senatobia MS. He enjoyed cooking and he had a great sense of humor. His favorite saying was "just getting better looking everyday!"
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife of 47 years, Billie Wages, who passed away in December 2009; and a son, Robert Wages.
He is survived by his son, Jim (Deanna) Wages of Senatobia MS; his daughter, Debbie (Lou) Landry of Jacksonville AR; his grandchildren: Ashley Wages of Blytheville AR, Hannah Dial of Ojai CA, Christen Houwen of Jacksonville AR, Jennifer Gilliam & Lawrence Combs of Moraine OH, Robert (Jen) Stone of Gosnell AR, Tina Riggs of Jonesboro AR, and Jordan Richardson of Blytheville AR; his nine (plus one on the way) great-grandchildren; his sister, Peg Robertson of Paragould AR; and many nieces, nephews, and friends that loved him so much!
Visitation will be Saturday, March 8th, 5:00 - 8:00 p.m. at Carney Funeral Home Chapel in Blytheville. Graveside services will be Sunday, March 9th, at 2:00 p.m. in Sunset Memorial Gardens, West Helena AR with Bro. Greg Hurt officiating. In lieu of flowers the family requests any donations be made to the National Autism Association.
