John Kevin Sneed, 52, of Leachville passed away Monday morning at home. He was born March 8, 1962 in Memphis Tennessee to William Charles and Beverly Marie Sneed. He was of the Catholic faith.
Mr. Sneed served in the United States Marine Corps and was honorably discharged with the rank of Corporal. He was a concealed carry firearm instructor. In earlier years he enjoyed playing golf. He really enjoyed his Harley Davidson motorcycle. He liked watching NASCAR, his favorite driver was Dale Earnhardt, Jr. and his favorite football team, the Arkansas Razorbacks. He loved to cookout and had a great sense of humor. His family said, "He was a good person." He loved his family, including his "baby" his favorite dog "Monk", more than anything.
He had worked for Cyro as a maintenance engineer for over 20 years. Later he was able to pursue his dream of working in law enforcement. He worked for the Mississippi County Sheriff's Department and the Leachville Police Department.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two step-sons, Stephen Rush and Michael Rush.
He is survived by his wife of 28 years, Joyce Sneed, of Leachville;
His daughter, Andrea Sneed and her fiance' Brian Bailey of Jonesboro;
Five grandchildren: Leigha Rush, Justin Buxton, Dalton Rush, Madison Rush, and Lauren Rush;
Three brothers: William Charles "Chip" Sneed and Donna Boyce, of Memphis TN, Stephen Sneed, of Memphis TN, and Karl Sneed and Caroline, of Hilton Head SC;
Two sisters: Beverly Nichols and Jim of TN and Lisa Sneed of Memphis TN;
A former daughter-in-law, Donna Sneed, of Memphis TN;
And numerous nieces, nephews and a host of friends.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, October 3 at 1:00 P.M. in Carney Funeral Home Chapel with Father Felix officiating. Visitation will be 11:00-1:00 until services begin.
