Mrs. Joyce Ioakimedes, 75, of Gosnell, passed away on Sunday, January 11, 2015, at St. Bernard's Hospital in Jonesboro. She was born in Blytheville on November 4, 1939 to James Earl Meadows and Eileen Boles Meadows.
Joyce loved life and everything about it. She enjoyed traveling; she loved to read; she liked game shows and mysteries on T.V. and especially liked The Golden Girls. She enjoyed fishing; she loved to watch the snow fall, and she liked all kinds of music. She was an excellent cook and her family raved about her prime rib and chocolate gravy and biscuits.
She lived in Vallejo, California for thirty years. While there, she enjoyed taking her grandchildren to the amusement park and the fair every year, then to see the horse races. They had great fun going to the park to feed the ducks and visiting the petting zoo. For the past few years, her great-grandchildren have been her greatest joy. She loved being around people.
She was a great person who loved to give and it broke her heart to see anyone in need of anything. Her husband of 48 years said that she was "Very beautiful and had better looking legs than Betty Grable."
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Jeffrey Campbell, a brother, and her sisters.
She is survived by her husband, Michael Ioakimedes of Vallejo, California;
Three sons: Robert Campbell, of Atlanta, Georgia, Michael Ioakimedes, Jr. of Florida and Matthew Ioakimedes of Sherman Oaks, California;
Two daughters: Martha Cole of Gosnell and Stacey Ioakimedes of Texas;
Seventeen grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren;
Three brothers: John Meadows, Cecil Shaneyfelt, and Ronnie Shaneyfelt;
A daughter-in-law, Dawn Campbell of Red Bluff, California;
And many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be Friday evening from 4 P.M. until 7 P.M. at Carney Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be Saturday at 1 P.M. at Carney Funeral Home with Dr. Tommy J. Carney officiating. Burial will be in Carney Cemetery.
