Katherine "Kay" Nell Campbell Gude of Fayetteville, Arkansas passed away Sunday, March 25 at her parents' home in Blytheville, Arkansas.
Born on February 17, 1957 in Harlan, Kentucky, Kay was raised in Blytheville where she graduated high school in 1975.
Kay spent her freshman year at Mississippi State College for Women, and then transferred to the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville where she graduated in 1979 with a BA in Journalism. She was a member of Pi Beta Phi Sorority and was a DJ at KXUA.
She taught Journalism at Fayetteville High School, but is remembered as owner of "Shoelaces," a popular ladies shoe boutique. She moved to Bethany, Missouri in 2010 where she worked as Director of Marketing and Public Relations for Harrison County Community Hospital.
Kay never met a stranger. A beautiful testimonial to this is the hundreds of cards and well wishes she received from old and new friends, even mere acquaintances, during her illness.
She is survived by her daughter, Margaret "Grace" Gude of Fayetteville;
her parents Dr. and Mrs. Charles Edward Campbell Jr. of Blytheville;
siblings Charles Edward Campbell III and his wife Patricia Gladwin Campbell of Pensacola, Florida, Lori Campbell Rose of Singapore, and William "Stuart" Campbell of Orlando;
nieces Claire Campbell, Hannah Campbell, and nephew Jonathan Rose; her fiancé Steve Long of Bethany, Missouri, his parents, sons, and their wives and children.
She remained close with her former husband Joe Gude of Fayetteville, son of longtime Mayor Joe Gude of Blytheville.
Kay expressed much thankfulness and love to her close friends and special people in her life.
Visitation services will be held in Blytheville at First United Methodist Church Thursday, March 29 from 5-7 pm.
Memorial services will be held in Fayetteville at Sequoyah United Methodist Church Sunday, April 1st at 3 pm, visitation preceding at 1:30 pm.
