MARTHA ELIZABETH REGENOLD HILL
Mrs. Martha Elizabeth Regenold Hill, 103, was born in Memphis, Tennessee, December 3, 1908, the daughter of Zula Buffaloe and Charles Sumpter Regenold. She has been a Blytheville resident since 1954 and was a member of the First United Methodist Church.
She was married to Alexander Stephens Hill, Jr., November 17, 1928 and was married for 63 years until his death in 1991. During their years together, Martha and Alex traveled extensively in the United States and other countries. Before moving to Blytheville, she and her husband had lived in Winnfield, Louisiana and Little Rock, Arkansas. While in Little Rock, Mrs. Hill volunteered as a Grey Lady at the Veteran's Hospital, and after moving to Blytheville she volunteered for the Red Cross at the hospital.
Preceding her in death are her husband, her parents, one sister, Frances Harber, and two brothers, Charles Sumpter Regenold and Fred Regenold, and two granddaughters, Maya Gay Hill and Martha Rushing Payne.
Mrs. Hill leaves one daughter Eleanor Hill Royer and her late husband Robert A. Royer, one son Alex Stephen Hill, III, and his wife Virginia, three granddaughters, Sharon Rushing Powell, Stephanie Russell Miller, and Kerensa Hill Gattis; two grandsons, Alexander Shantih Hill and Benjamin Doyle Russell; nine great-grandchildren: Hill Powell Olsen, Shade R. Powell, Matthew K. Miller, Jacob H. Russell, Samantha A. Miller, Jordan F. Russell, Jackson W. Gattis, Alex Shantih Hill, and Marlon F. Gattis; and two great-great grandchildren: Halvor John Robert Olson and Marlow Zula Lum Olson.
There will be a memorial service in Batesville on Saturday, August 25th at 11:00am in the Chapel at First Methodist Church Batesville.
Funeral services will be held in Blytheville on Saturday, September 1st at 11:00am at Carney Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery.
