Mary Fleeman Martin, 82, of Conway, formerly of Blytheville, passed away Wednesday at Salem Place Nursing Home & Rehabilitation. She was born around Manila on February 1, 1931 to her parents John and Nora Fleeman.
Mrs. Martin was a member of Church of Christ at Main and 13th, Blytheville, where she attended faithfully every Sunday until her health declined.
She was a graduate of Arkansas State College, Jonesboro, Arkansas. She was a school teacher and retired after 30 years of teaching elementary school, 2nd grade, in Blytheville. According to her children she was a great cook and lovingly took care of her family.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Clyde William Martin; her parents, John and Nora Fleeman; three sisters: Secil Jolliff, Glenda Turnbow, Jewel McCulloch; six brothers: Odell Fleeman, Olan Fleeman, Elton Fleeman, Alonzo Fleeman, Bob Fleeman, and Layton Fleeman.
She is survived by her son, Brent (Laura) Martin, of Blytheville AR; her daughter, Risa (Mark) Evans, of Conway AR; five grandchildren: Steven (Jennifer) Hyatt, Jr., Susan Hyatt (Chris) Beverly, and Shawn Hyatt (Matthew) Rateliff, all of Conway AR, and Sarah Martin and Hannah Martin of Blytheville AR; three great-grandchildren and two on the way; and one sister, Bessie Fleeman Wilbanks of Flint MI.
Graveside services will be Thursday at 2:00 pm in Manila Cemetery, Manila AR with Dr. Tommy J. Carney officiating. Donations can be made to Arkansas Alzheimer's Association.
