Mona Minyard Obituary

Mrs. Mona Jean Minyard of New Lenox, Illinois passed away at her home on Father’s Day, June 17, 2018. She was born on January 12, 1935 to the late Wiley T. Lollar and Ethel Z. (Kilgore) Lollar in Dell, Arkansas.

Mrs. Jean Minyard loved the Lord and dedicated each day to performing His work.  She volunteered as a Sunday school teacher for over 40 years, during which time she touched the lives of many children.  She was also passionate about being an interpreter for the deaf.  Well versed in American Sign Language, she created an opportunity for many men and women to attend her local church by translating the sermon. She also enjoyed sewing, reading, gardening and cooking.

She married her loving husband, James Minyard, on Christmas Eve, 1951.  They raised 2 daughters, Lisa Minyard and Linda Dormann, in Granite City, IL and later moved to Burbank.  She was a cherished wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, mentor and friend.

Mrs. Mona Jean Minyard is preceded in death by her father and mother; Wiley and Ethel Lollar; along with 7 brothers and sisters.  She is survived by her husband of 67 years (James A. Minyard), 2 daughters (Lisa Minyard and Linda Dormann), her grandchildren (Jada and Ben Powell, Tyler Tribble, Jasmine Minyard and Chelsea Tribble), 3 great-grandchildren (James, Jacob and Jack Powell), 1 brother (JB Lollar) and 2 sisters (Sue Hodge and Laquita Joy Brown).

She will be greatly missed by everyone who knew and loved her.  Many lives were influenced by her faith, testimony and selfless, endless, love.
