Nellie Marie Bowman

Mrs. Nellie Marie Bowman, 74, Blytheville, passed away on Friday morning at Heritage Square Nursing Center. Mrs. Bowman was born October 6, 1936 in Beverly Kansas to Fred Vaupel and Nell Armburster Vaupel.

Mrs. Bowman was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Charles O. Bowman; her son, Brian Bowman; and her sister Phyllis Vaupel.

She is survived by two sons, Craig Bowman (Dawne) and Mark Bowman (Sherry) all of Blytheville; her daughter-in-law, Lisa Bowman of Lawrenceville GA; her grandsons, Sean Bowman and Bradley Bowman of Blytheville, Jason Lemke of Southhaven MS; a granddaughter, Brooke Bowman McHaffey of Kingston GA; a great-grandson, Jason Lemke; a great-granddaughter, Ivy Marie McHaffey; and a sister, Freida Glover of Dallas TX.

Mrs. Bowman graduated with her nursing degree from St. Mary's College in Salina KS. She taught nursing at Cottonboll in Burdette for over 25 years.

She was an avid gardener. She was a member of The Rose Club, Gosnell Rotan Club, and was a long time member of the First Lutheran Church in Blytheville.

She really enjoyed making ceramics and any other kind of crafts. She loved to "get up and go" - it didn't matter where. She also loved animals of all kinds including pheasants, guinea pigs, chickens, cats, and of course dogs. But, her most valuable treasure was her family, especially her grandbabies!

Visitation will be Sunday, September 11th, 3:00-5:00pm at Carney Funeral Home Chapel. Funeral Services will be Monday, September 12th, at 11:00am at First Lutheran Church with Rev. Dennis Fitzpatrick officiating. Burial will be in Carney Cemetery.
