Otis David Gifford Jr, 65, of Gosnell died at his home, Friday evening. He was born on July 11, 1945 in Leachville to O.D. and Ethel Baker Gifford.
Mr. Gifford was a truck driver for Ricketts Trucking Co. He loved trucking, and working on his truck, and doing all kinds of mechanical work.
His other hobbies included racing, fishing, and cooking - his specialty was brown beans and fried potatoes. He was a hard worker who loved to help people. His children say that "He was the best Daddy in the world."
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving in Vietnam as a helicopter aviation pilot.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
He is survived by three sons: David Gifford of Advance, MO, Wayne Shaw of Manila, and Henry Shaw of Alma, AR;
five daughters: Emily McGraw of Manila, Laura Hill of Keiser, Flora Webb of Blytheville, Sara Ek of Blytheville, and Mary Beth Ek, of Manila;
thirteen grandchildren;
the mother of his childen: Flora Bell Cassidy of Manila;
one sister: Frances Sercey of Bono, AR;
and three very special friends: Jim Shaw and Rhul(Slim)Keller, both of Blytheville, and Delores Williams of Manila.
Visitation will be held at Carney Funeral Home on Sunday, December 19th from 6 til 8 PM.
Funeral services will be at Carney Funeral Home on Monday at 2 PM.
Burial will be in Leachville Cemetery.
