Richard M. Connell, 74, of Blytheville passed away early in the morning on December 15, 2024, at Great River Medical Center in Blytheville. He was born in Blytheville on February 2, 1950 to Homer L. and Thelma “Jean” (Kelley) Connell. He was a 1968 Blytheville High School graduate who also attended Draughan Business School.
Mr. Connell served his country in the United States Navy for four years. He was a member of the American Legion. Mr. Connell was a retired insurance agent who had owned his own insurance business in Blytheville for many years until his retirement. He enjoyed spending time fishing, hunting, and being with friends and family.
He was preceded in death by his son, Kelly Wayne Connell; and his parents: Homer and Jean Connell.
He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Cindy L. Connell, of the home; son, Jeremy Connell, of Blytheville; three grandchildren: Ashlynn Marrow, of Oakland TN, Carson Connell and Raven Slaughter, of Cooter MO, and Cohen Connell, of Etowah, AR; four great-grandchildren: Knox Connell, Rori Connell, Nova Connell, and Beau Bradford; a brother, Ronnie and Beth Connell, of Blytheville; a sister, Janet Sawyer, of Olive Branch, MS; numerous nieces and nephews; and best friend, Gary Burris, of Blytheville.
Funeral services will be at Carney Funeral Home on Wednesday, December 18, 2024, at 12:00 pm. Visitation will be 11:00 am until service begins. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery. Condolences may be offered at carneyfuneralhome.com.
