Samuel Ray Wells, 78, of Auburn, Illinois passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family. He was born in San Diego, California on July 8, 1943 to George William Wells and Virginia “Vee” Sybil Wells.
He loved being outdoors! Some of his favorite hobbies included fishing for catfish or checking his trout lines. He enjoyed taking his grandkids “muddin’,“ fishing, catching turtles, and especially “froggin’.” He and his wife loved to spend hours on Mallard Lake at Big Lake in Manila. In Half Moon, he designed, cleared the ground, and built his house, from the ground up, all by himself. He enjoyed Elvis’s music. In fact, he drove a dump truck on a job for Elvis Presley.
He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and now great-great-grandfather. Family was very important to him. He helped take care of his mother, making sure her needs were met. Over the years he took care of his family, especially his girls. He loved his dog, D. J.
