Shirley Wright

Shirley Ann Wright, 74, of Gosnell passed away on January 28, 2022 at NEA Hospital in Jonesboro surrounded by her loved ones.  She was born on February 23, 1947 to Silas Edward McKinney and Geneva Leanna Cooksey McKinney in Crawfordsville AR.

She retired from Milwaukee Tool after many years of dedication while working nights.  She was certain to leave notes from her kids and husband to let them know how much she loved them.  After retiring, she would get up long before the rest of the household and make breakfast that would include her self proclaimed “ugly biscuits” and chocolate gravy.

As her health began to decline Shirley still found ways to care for others.  She deemed herself the “Candy Lady” when attending dialysis.  Her face would light up as she told of how much joy it brought her to give others something to look forward to while having treatment.

Shirley dedicated her life to taking care of others.  While she was a mentor and mother figure to many, she officially fostered 14 children and adopted seven children. 

She is preceded in death by her parents; her adopted son, Jackie Heslin; and granddaughter, Eleanor Koonce.

She is survived by her husband, Roy Wright, Sr., of Gosnell; Patricia (James) Cummings; Jimmy Koonce, David (Cindy) Koonce, Danielle Wright, Michael Wright, Roy Wright, Jr., and Francie Wright. Shirley was the grandmother to 26 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; and other family and friends that will miss her dearly
