Thomas "Tommy" Neely Curtis, 76, of Blytheville died late Sunday night at Gosnell HealthCare. He was born near Blytheville to Clyde Chester and Lacy Marie Lollar Curtis on June 19, 1937. He was a member of the National Guard, the American Legion, and was a retired carpenter.
Tommy had a great sense of humor and his favorite thing was sitting around outside and telling stories with his friends. He literally loved being outside. In his younger years, he was great at barbequing. He enjoyed taking part in the barbeque contests that used to take place in Blytheville. The family has a picture of him and Gov. Bill Clinton barbequing. He was also a great fan of country music, especially the older country songs. He turned on the Blytheville country music radio station as soon as he got up in the mornings.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Glen Curtis and Jerry Curtis.
He is survived by two brothers: Clyde Dalton Curtis of Louisiana and Paul L. Curtis of Blytheville;
One nephew: Paul Curtis, Jr. (and Toni Lee) of Blytheville;
One great niece: Cannon Lee Curtis of Blytheville;
Three aunts: Sue Lollar of Horn Lake Mississippi, Julia Lollar of Gosnell, and LaQuita Lollar of Florida;
One uncle: J. B. Lollar of Gosnell;
And special friends: Shelley and Joe Richardson, Kelly Richardson, Steve and Sandy Herren, Zach and Joy Wicker, Garrett Avitts, Tony and Sharon Harrington, and Rick French;
And a host of other friends and relatives.
Visitation will be held at Carney Funeral Home on Wednesday, Nov.20th from noon until 2 p.m. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. with Dr. Tommy J. Carney officiating. A private burial will be held at a later date.
