Vashti Williamson, 87, of Blytheville, peacefully left this world to meet her Heavenly Father on June 2, 2015. She was a devout Christian who looked forward to the unimaginable glory that awaited her in Heaven.
She was born January 28, 1928 to the late William and Gerttie Mae Daniels VanBibber. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Gene Williamson, a dear daughter, Donna Kay Moody; five brothers: Houston, Earnest, W.C., Virgil and Johnny VanBibber and one sister: Nadine Shireman.
Vashti is survived by two sons: Kenneth Dwight Moody of Bono, AR, and Bryan Van Moody of Blytheville, AR., and one sister, Mary Bowles of California. She will be greatly missed by her grandsons Sean (Lori) of Branson, MO, Jeremiah (Debbie) of Jonesboro, Christopher (Candice) of Bono and one granddaughter, Kiara (Robert) of Mountain Home, AR. She also leaves behind ten great-grandchildren: Jordan, Levi, Marcus, Amriya, Bryon, Brandon, Victoria, Chesney Jonai, Cael Jamian, and Joanna.
In addition to raising her three children, she worked for some time in the restaurant her husband owned. She did everything from washing dishes to cooking, and also cashiering. She then went to beauty school and put in her own beauty shop where she worked for many years.
She was a faithful and active member of Bethany Baptist Church for many years. She loved the church and was loved by everyone in the church.
She loved to travel, seeing much of the world, including Germany, Paris, Italy, London, Alaska, Hawaii, and most of the continental United States. She enjoyed spending her days at the local Senior Center, playing games and visiting with friends.
Most of all, Vashti loved being with family. She was a very involved mother and grandma. She was a gracious hostess, preparing home cooked meals for each holiday and other special occasions.
Visitation will be held at Bethany Baptist church in Gosnell on Saturday, June 6, 2015 from 12:00 until 2:00 p.m.
Funeral service will follow at 2:00 with Rev. Gary Hyde officiating. Interment will be in Carney Cemetery, 1501 Byrum Rd in Blytheville.
