Mrs. Vivian Oliver Tucker, 95, of Blytheville, passed away peacefully on Friday evening at Elmcroft. She was born to Earl Eugene Oliver and Lillian Fox Oliver on September 26, 1917 in Chicago IL.
She worked for the AC Nielson Rating Company for approximately 6 years early on, but her husband's career required them to relocate several times, so she spent most of her married life as a homemaker. She and her husband, Bill, were married 73 years when he passed away in 2011.
She was a faithful member of the First Christian Church for over 20 years.
Her hobbies included gardening, golfing, and playing Bridge. She played in a weekly Bridge club with the same three women for over 12 years. She and Bill loved to go to the Senior Citizens Center several times a week to play Bridge there. In fact, at one time other "seniors" wanted to learn how to play Bridge so she organized and taught Bridge lessons. She also loved to cook and was a very good cook. Her son says she made the best apple pies and cobblers!
The family would like to thank the members of First Christian Church for providing around the clock care for Vivian for the last few days of her life. Also, thank you to her special friends, neighbors, and caregivers, Carol and Phillip Haile for always being there for her over the years.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, William Straehley Tucker, Sr.; and a grandson, Brian Tucker.
She is survived by her son, William Straehley Tucker, Jr., and his wife Martha, Charleston, SC; a granddaughter, Lynsey W. Tucker, Brooklyn NY; and one great-granddaughter, Chelsea Tucker, Edwardsville IL.
Funeral services will be Tuesday at 11:00 a.m. at Carney Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Tommy Carney officiating. Visitation will be at 10:00 a.m. until service begins. Burial will be immediately following in Carney Cemetery.
